Blow It (blowit.games) is a free fantasy game. This page explains what we collect when you play, why, and what you can do about it.
Who we are
Blow It is run by Arbat Partners Ltd, a company registered in Scotland. We are the data controller for the information described here. Contact us at hello@hoglet.games.
If you play as a guest
- Your game is saved on your device. Your bag, lifestyle choices and settings are kept in your browser's storage so you can carry on where you left off. They don't leave your device unless you share or post a score. Clearing your browser's data deletes them.
- Rough location. To pick your country's lottery and show your town, our hosting provider works out an approximate location from your internet connection. We don't store it.
Things that are public if you choose them
- Share links. When you share your result, we save a picture of your result card and a short summary (including the name you entered, if any) so the link can show a preview in WhatsApp, iMessage, X and other apps. Anyone with the link can see them. They're kept for about 13 months.
- Today's leaderboard. When you finish the daily challenge, your display name (or "Anonymous"), flex score, kudos, result and personality type are posted to that day's public leaderboard.
- Challenge links (signed-in players) show your display name, jackpot, result, kudos, rank and top purchases to anyone with the link.
Don't put anything in your display name you wouldn't want strangers to see.
If you sign in with Google
- From Google: your name and email address, so you can sign in and so we can fill in your first name.
- What you enter or play: the name and town you show on your flex card, your age, the life expectancy option you pick, your latest bag and lifestyle choices, and your result.
Game counts
We count what happens in games: games started and finished, which items get bought, and which share buttons are used. These counts carry no name, account, device ID or cookie, so they can't be linked back to you. We use them to improve the game.
Why we use it
- To run the game, save your progress, and let you share, challenge friends and appear on the leaderboard (this is needed to provide what you ask for).
- To keep the game working and secure, for example limiting how many share links one connection can make in an hour (our legitimate interest). For that, your connection's IP address is held for up to two hours.
- To understand which parts of the game people use (our legitimate interest, using the anonymous counts above).
We don't sell your information. We don't send marketing emails unless you've agreed to them first.
Who helps us run it
- Cloudflare hosts the website, stores share-link pictures and makes the AI card pictures.
- Supabase stores accounts, saved games, challenges, the daily leaderboard and the game counts, in London (UK).
- Google provides the sign-in and the website's fonts (your browser loads the fonts from Google's servers).
- Wikimedia Commons is where real item photos come from. We keep our own copies, so your browser doesn't contact Wikimedia when you play.
Some of these companies may handle data outside the UK, under the safeguards UK data protection law requires.
How long we keep it
- Accounts and saved games: until you ask us to delete them. Challenge links are deleted with your account.
- Share links and their pictures: about 13 months.
- Leaderboard entries: while the game runs, unless you ask us to remove yours.
Shop links
Some items have a link marked Ad to a shop that sells them. These links go through our affiliate partner, Awin, so the shop can tell we sent you and may pay us a commission if you buy. We don't send Awin or the shop your name, account or game. Once you open the link you're on their website, and their own privacy and cookie policies apply. We count clicks on these links, with no personal details.
Cookies and storage
We use your browser's storage to save your game, keep you signed in and remember settings. We don't use advertising or tracking cookies. If we add adverts, we'll ask for your permission first, and players under 18 will only be shown non-personalised adverts.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, or object to how we use it. Email hello@hoglet.games. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Age
Blow It is for people aged 13 and over. We don't knowingly collect information about anyone under 13.
